Time flies

I happen to chance upon our blog and realised that we have not updated since few days before our wedding. Weixiang and i have been customarily married for 9 months and legally for 27 months! That's how time flies :)

We had a great honeymoon x 2 (New Zealand and Canada) and we must admit that we have a huge backlog of photos to process.

We have also received the photos and video of the wedding day, but have only uploaded them on facebook.

Going through those photos makes us indescribably happy.

The song of our pre-wedding photo slideshow brings me back to Paris and i sometimes leave it on loop. You can see it here.

Recently, Weixiang uploaded some of our photos we took in New Zealand and here's one of my favourite :)

We love New Zealand so much that Weixiang is quite sure that we we'll go back for the 3rd time, maybe with our son!

Speaking of which, here's a glimpse of him waving hello ♥

6 Reasons to Come Early For Our Wedding!

  1. Create our guestbook! Guests will be able to create our guestbook from scratch (almost) using scrapbooking materials. Don’t worry if you are not artistically inclined – it will be fun and simple!

  2. Thumbprint Portrait! Each and everyone of you have played a significant part in our lives. Ink your presence with your thumbprint on our canvas which will be displayed in our future home.

  3. Mega-photogallery! Besides the “standard” wedding photos, there will be 2 decades worth of photos of our friends and family! Come early and spot yourself!

  4. Time to Catch-up! We would like to spend more time catching-up with friends and family whom we haven’t met for a while. So do come early for extra chit-chat time!

  5. Free entrance to Sentosa! Our wedding invite functions as a free ticket into Sentosa Island! So if you have not visited Sentosa for a while, why not come early to explore the new attractions? The hotel's location at sentosa cove makes you forget that you're in Singapore. Come enjoy the feel!

  6. Beat the Jam! Avoid the Saturday evening jam into Sentosa (and get the choice parking lots as well).

So see you at W Sentosa Cove on 7 Dec at 6.00pm
(or even earlier)!

It was a nice part of wedding planning getting in touch with friends and relatives to share the good news, especially those we have not seen for a long time.

Thank you for RSVP-ing on your site to confirm that you will be there with us on 7th December.

We have most of your contact details and will be closing the RSVP site.

"Aren't you guys married already?"

We've been receiving a flurry of questions from our friends upon notifying them about the date of our wedding, the most common being: "Aren't you guys married already?". The 2nd most common question would probably be: "Why is your wedding date so far apart from your ROM date?" To answer all these questions once and for all, here are the reasons for choosing to hold our wedding separately from our ROM...

  1. My Grandmother. My (maternal) grandmother was in poor health when we were engaged. We decided to hold an early ROM in case her health deteriorated. My beloved grandmother has since passed away earlier this year, but we are glad that she managed to see us exchange our rings.

  2. Housing concerns. We decided that having a marriage cert would give us more housing options in Singapore. Yes, you could apply for a HDB flat without a marriage cert, but this does not hold true for resale properties, or properties in the private market. True enough, the marriage cert came in handy when we applied for our Executive Condominium last month.

  3. More time for planning and execution. Delaying our wedding ceremony allowed us more time to plan, as well as more time to save up on resources (ie. money...) Taking the ROM ceremony out of the wedding day will allow us more time on the actual day itself to travel and rest.

  4. A 'mini-rehearsal' before the actual wedding. Planning for our ROM allowed us to have a taste of organising such events before moving on to the larger scale wedding. We were able to choose our team of brothers/sisters, photographers and videographers with little hesitation for our wedding as we have already worked with them before.

So yes, we are legally married, but we haven't had the traditional gate-crashing, tea-ceremony and dinner banquet yet. And in a lot of our elders' eyes, we aren't married until we have gone through the traditional rites. Hopefully this answers the queries :)

Wedding Banquet

Our wedding banquet will be held at W Sentosa Cove's Great Room on 7th Dec 2013.

The search for the location for our banquet venue actually deserves a separate post but to cut the story short, the 2 of us settled with this location because we want this day to be as unique an experience for both our guests and ourselves.

This part of Singapore has morphed into a place I could almost forget I am still in Singapore and the hotel W lived to our expectations of being refreshingly quirky and memorable.

We look forward to you joining us on 7th December 2013.

Preview of Solemnization at Mosin

Solemnization came and went, I am now my best friend's lawful wife :) YAY!

A BIG thank you to those who made the day possible and exceptionally memorable.

While we're still awaiting photos from feldberyl and video from alvin&adeline, here's a collection of photos, some posted on facebk by friends who were there to share the joy.

Our room :) See the reflection?

Here's the view from the room. Everything that day was executed to planned precision. Unfortunately we cant plan for blue-sky great weather. But on the happy note, it was rather windy :)

Quanyao is the MAN who is overall in charge. Kahhua's my 姐妹。Love the tiffany blue theme :)

Celebratory cake from Mosin. They're kinda cute. While the make-up artist was at work, they sent surprises in batches. Pot of roses, champagne, strawberries and this cake.

Make up done. First time having my hair curled.

Love the bouquet chosen by the husband :)

Getting ready and waiting for the cue to go to the cabana.

Easles set up by the friends :)

My dad with tiffany blue tie ♥.

Wei Xiang saying his vow :) The vow which he started to put together months ago! Interestingly, while we didnt discuss about the details of our vows, there were striking similarities.

My Vow
Dear Wei Xiang, thank you for always being there for me.  Thank you for being my constant and every supportive best friend and companion.  On this special day, in the presence of our families and friends, i take you to be my lawfully wedded husband.  I offer you my solemn vow that i will love you unconditionally.   I will love you in good times and in bad, in health and in sickness, in joy as well as in sorrow.  Our love will grow each day as we grow old together.  We will travel to more places, watch countless more sunrises and sunsets and take more beautiful photos together.  This ring represents my love and faithfulness as i place it on your finger, i commit my heart and soul to you.

Weixiang's Vow
Dear Ivy, when I met you almost 7 years ago, I had never thought that we would be here right now, holding each other's arms and looking into each other's eyes. Since then, we have been on many amazing journeys - journeys to places, and journeys in life. We conquered the highest peak in Africa, witnessed the glorious wildlife in the Serengeti and drove more than 8000km across breathtaking lanscapes in New Zealand. We made it through Med School and survived Housemanship. And yet, from this day on, another new journey begins for us. From this day on, I shall live with you and laugh with you, stand by your side and sleep in your arms. I shall be joy to your heart, and mirror for your soul, striving to bring out the best in you always, and for you, to be the most that I can. From this day on, I promise to laugh with you in good times, and struggle with you in bad times. I promise to wipe away your tears with my hands, and wash away your fears with my embrace. Your burdens and your pain, as well as your joys and your laughter, are all mine to share. From this day on, I promise to see even more wonders of the world with you, and holding each other's hands, chase countless sunrises and sunsets, until we grow old and wrinkly. Let it be known, that by my own freewill and choice, without fear or hesitation, I chose you today, over every other person in the world, to be my best friend, my soulmate – my wife.

Throwing the bouquet I heart :))

Friends who weaved the memory so beautifully.

The 姐妹s. From left: Wen Phei, Wanzhen, kahhua. Wen Phei was an outstanding arts&decor director. Even my parents noticed :)

Post dinner. I was playing with my bracelet.

My 姐妹s who have seen me through med school.

Once again friends, thanks for the photos and well wishes :) I'm looking fwd to the actual day wedding!
